What should I do if something doesn't feel right during my Pregnancy workouts?

Consulting with your healthcare provider is always advised before participating in any exercise program.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Your workouts are designed to help you feel strong, supported, and energised, but your safety always comes first.

While occasional discomforts like fatigue or mild tightness can be completely normal, there are some symptoms that mean you should stop training straight away and contact your healthcare provider.

These symptoms don't always mean something is wrong, but they do need to be checked out by a medical professional, just to be safe.

Here’s what to look out for:

Stop exercising immediately and speak to your doctor if you notice:

  1. Bleeding from the vagina

  2. Fluid gushing or leaking from the vagina (this could be amniotic fluid)

  3. Shortness of breath before you even start exercising

  4. Feeling dizzy or faint

  5. Chest pain or tightness

  6. Severe or sudden headache

  7. Muscle weakness that affects your balance or coordination

  8. Pain, swelling, or redness in your calf (could indicate a clot)

  9. Regular, painful contractions (not Braxton Hicks)

If you notice any of these signs:

  1. Stop what you're doing immediately.

  2. Find a safe place to sit or lie down.

  3. Contact your GP, midwife, obstetrician, or present to your nearest hospital if you’re concerned.

Always trust your body and your instincts. You're doing an incredible job, and seeking support when needed is part of that strength.
